Educational Philosophy/School District Mission

We believe that the educational process should develop a feeling of self-worth and accomplishment within each student and should be built upon a thorough understanding of the basic skills.  Furthermore, we believe that the self actualization of each child should be in harmony with appreciation for the importance of our democratic way of life in America.  The preservation of our democratic way of life shall not be inherited but must always be learned and earned anew by each generation in order for it to be perpetuated.  Therefore, we believe the role of education to be one in helping individuals achieve their greatest potential which will, in turn, enable them to make their greatest contribution to society.

It is, therefore, the responsibilty of the Pleasant Hope R-VI School to provide an environment for children of the district which will foster and accelerate their intellectual, social, physical, aesthetic, emotional and ethical development.

Pleasant Hope Elementary School Belief Statement

We, the faculty of Pleasant Hope Elementary, believe that we are directly responsible for teaching children to function at higher levels of thinking based on their individual potential.  Our intent is to teach children how to continue the process of learning throughout their lives and to produce citizens who are able to live self-fulfilling and productive lives.  We are commited to the use of a variety of teaching strategies which will facilitate active learning and optimize learning by focusing on the learning style of each child.  We believe that we must teach children to work together to solve problems regardless of race, culture or other diversity.

Pleasant Hope Elementary Mission Statement
